About Us
Our Story
We are an officially recognized IChemE Student Chapter at Curtin University Malaysia, Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia. IChemE, short for Institution of Chemical Engineers is a global professional organization for chemical engineers based in United Kingdom. Our chapter received its official chapter recognition from the South East Asia IChemE branch in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Since its emancipation, our chapter has strive to provide the best possible services and activities to chemical engineering students in Curtin Malaysia, and also other students in general.
Our activities are not only limited to the students, but also involves the people and community around Miri and the whole Sarawak. We believe that engineers responsibility is not only limited to its work scope, but is also responsible to impact the community around us in a positive way.
Our Mission
We strive to provide the best possible activities that can benefit the chemical engineering students at Curtin Malaysia. We are also constantly seeking ideas to push the boundary in order to impact the community and contribute to the improvement of life quality of the people around us.
ICheme malaysia awards 2018
On 15th October 2018, we attended the IChemE Malaysia Awards 2018 at the InterContinental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Curtin Malaysia IChemE student chapter was one of the five finalists for the Student Chapter Award. The other four finalists were Heriot-Watt University Malaysia, Monash University Malaysia, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP). Our student chapter had been awarded with highly commended in Student Chapter Award for the first time. We are honoured and proud to receive this award for recognizing the achievements and efforts of the past and present committee members and acdemic advisors of the student chapter. We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude and appreciation for the support, dedications and encouragements from everyone. This success would not have been possible without your support and we will continue to strive for excellence.
Special thanks to IChemE South East Asia Region, Mr Mohan Balasingam (Regional Business Development Manager South East Asia) ad Ms Teresa Kok (Membership Marketing Executive) for providing the student chapter such opportunities to recognize the significant achievements by Malaysian Chemical Engineering students to a new level.
